Chicago citation style is commonly referred to as the Chicago Manual Style (CMS). CMS is mostly used in referencing research papers. The current version in use is the manual 6th edition of 2010. Below are general MLA citation guidelines: Page header.
Citing an essay in a collection of essays or anthology requires following a very specific format when using both MLA (Modern Language Association) and APA (American Psychological Association) style. According to the Purdue Online Writing Lab, writers should use APA style when writing about the social sciences and MLA style for the humanities and liberal arts.
The Chicago Manual of Style uses both a reference page and a bibliography page. Each footnote or endnote is numbered. The bibliography is in alphabetical order and includes all resources used; not just those cited in the references.

Since The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) is primarily intended as a style guide for published works rather than class papers, these guidelines will be supplemented with information from, Kate L. Turabian’s Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (8th ed.), which is largely based on CMOS with some slight alterations.
Chicago style citation essay must have footnotes or end notes. Footnotes are the list of citations used in one page which are located in the bottom of the page. Endnotes present the same list which is, however, compiled in the end of the paper.
Chicago A (notes and a bibliography) is one of two styles outlined in the Chicago Manual of Style. It uses consecutively numbered notes, indicated by superscript numbers placed within the text, and placed at either the foot of the page (footnotes) or at the end of an essay (endnotes).
